As we put the finishing touches on our third book (title to be determined), we wanted to share some thoughts for our readers to ponder on this short holiday week. Below are five brief excerpts from a chapter in the book called, “On the way to the office – 10 things I’ve learned that have broader applications than just sports and events.”
Here you go. A short Monday Huddle Up for a short week. Hope some of these are useful to you…..
1 – Average leaders and middle-of-the-road organizations are playing checkers. Great ones are playing three-dimensional chess.
2 – If your gut tells you that something isn’t right, you are likely correct. Trust that instinct and adjust accordingly.
3 – Often times when a person lashes out or creates unneeded conflict, it’s not about the issue at hand. It’s about something else. Find that something and help them solve it.
4 – If you are always the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.
And finally, one from my wife Sharon…..
5 – “Yes” and “no” are perfectly acceptable answers. “Maybe” sucks. (Translation: make a decision, any decision, don’t be indecisive).
Thank you to all our readers that tune in every Monday. We hope you have a great holiday week!
